Celebrating His Spirit Lemuel W. Jones , affectionately known as “June” and “Lem,” was born on May 16, 1938 in Canton, MS. to the union of Arleaf and Lemuel W. Jones Sr. He departed this life on April 27, 2017 at Beechwoods Nursing Home, where he resided for many years. Lemuel moved from Canton to the Buckeye state in the early 1970s with his mother, joining his sister Corinne and her husband, John W. Blanton Sr. Despite his cerebral palsy, Lemuel was an active participant at the Cerebral Palsy Center and the E. Roger Jackson Adult Center for many years. He was also an active participant of life! Happiness for Lem was sharing a Coco-Cola with family and friends or visiting the Great American Ballpark to watch The Cincinnati Reds play his beloved game of baseball. He also was an avid jazz buff and loved to travel. Lem’s many adventures included trips to California, New Orleans and taking leisurely cruises down the Ohio River. He was preceded in death by his mother Arleaf H. Jones. Lem’s loving spirit will be cherished by his sister Corinne J. Blanton; his nephew, Dr. John (Beth Balschi) Blanton Jr. ; great-niece and nephew, Matthew and Sarah and three great-great nieces and nephews,, Cleo, Atticus and Blanton.
