Anthony McElroy, 73, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Maude L. and Johnny L. McElroy Sr. He departed this life on April 2, 2024 into the arms of the Lord. Anthony, one of four children, grew up in Cincinnati and attended special education classes at Cincinnati Public Schools.
After he graduated from high school, he enrolled in several workshops to learn a working trade. He became a valued employee at Gary’s Peanuts/Jumbo Jumbo, where he worked in the warehouse for 15 years. When he was not working, Anthony (Tony) loved to attend Soul-Winning Church of God with his family. He also enjoyed working to maintain the church grounds with his brother-in-law Hurchel Givan.
Tony was an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. He attended Reds games often and collected Reds’ memorabilia. He also loved to bowl and enjoyed eating good food…especially desert. Tony was quiet, outgoing, a man of few words but, will let know what was on his mind. A sweet spirit that would do anything to help. He never complained. And if the music felt good to him, he would worship the Lord or cut a rug. We will all miss his gentle spirit.
Tony was also cared for by his family; first by his cousin, Verdell Parsons, followed by his sister, Stephanie Givan, in 2015. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Bahar and brother, Johnny L. McElroy Jr.
His memory will forever by cherished by his sister, Stephanie and brother-in-law, Hurchel Givan; nieces, Teresa D. Givan, Bianca M. Griffin and Christina M. White, Fagima A. Bahar, Ayesha A. Bahar; great nieces, nephews and Janaya and Raielle White, Elliott, Ivan, Oscar, Amos, Upton, Yasmine, Rhema, NaAomi, Dahlia, Issachar Griffin, Teahyla, Tristen Abernathy, Aaron Haslon Jr. and Gerald Anthony Lester III.
