Rodney Lee Murph was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 11, 1961 to Claudia Marie Mitchell and the late, Oscar Murph.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at New Prospect Baptist Church. He would attend services of several churches throughout Cincinnati. He attended Aiken High School and studied Vocational Training for Dry Cleaning Services. During his training he developed a love for fashion.
Rodney had several occupations throughout his lifetime. He worked for Shillito’s in the stock room for many years. He also was a forklift operator at Kroger’s Warehouse for 15 years. Rodney had several supervisory roles; he worked for Fieldstone Luxury Apartments as a maintenance supervisor for 20 years, as well as supervising Woodlawn Recreation Center for 15 years. He enjoyed working with MRDD patients for Hamilton County.
Rodney loved to be surrounded by his family and friends. He was always willing to help anyone in need. Rodney was extremely charismatic, and his presence would light up a room. Rodney began bowling at the age of eight and won several trophies at Feldson’s Bowling Alley. He loved all sports, especially basketball, golf, and football.
He leaves to celebrate his life; his son, Austin Lee Murph; his daughter, Aliyah Ryann Murph; his mother, Claudia Marie Mitchell; his sisters, Cathy Marie Richardson and Lisa M. Murph; his brother, Oscar Murph; his nieces, Christa Nicole Settles (Cameren), Leah Marie Smith and Ranon Ashley Smith; his aunt, Shirley Ann Baker and his uncle, Jack Noble Mitchell. He also leaves a host of cousins and friends.
