Janice Elizabeth Lucas

Janice Elizabeth (Hargrove) Lucas was born July 13, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Melvin and Jessie (Traylor) Hargrove. Janice was one of four children. One sister, Marlene Smith and two brothers, Melvin Hargrove Jr. and Gregory Hargrove Sr. preceded her in death.

Janice accepted Christ at a young age being baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Janice graduated from Our Lady of Angels. Janice met the love of her life, Emerson H. Lucas Jr. at the age of 14 in 1956. In 1960 they joined in Holy Matrimony. To this union three children were born; two sons, Emerson H. Lucas III, Edwin D. Lucas and one daughter Simone R. Lucas- Brooks.

Janice dedicated 36 years of her life working for General Electrics before retiring in 2002. Once retired Janice had more time to do one of the things she loved the most, travel. Janice enjoyed traveling with her husband and family both internationally and domestic. Aruba was one of her favorite places.

Janice will be deeply missed by all. She leaves to cherish her memory; her loving and devoted husband, Emerson H. Lucas Jr.; 3 children, sons Emerson H. Lucas III , Edwin D. Lucas and daughter, Simone R. Lucas- Brooks; 5 grandchildren, Roberto Farrar, Danielle Lucas, Jasmyn Brooks, Cortni Evans and Jordan Lucas- Smith; 2 great-grandchildren, Elise Farrar and Braylen Farrar; 2 nieces, Nina (James) Swain and Bethany Hargrove; 2 nephews, Gregory Hargrove Jr. and Loren Hargrove and a host of family and friends.
