Ethel Worthen Obituary

Ethel Mae (Carter) Worthen, 85, was born to the union of George and Lutia Carter on August 13, 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She departed this life to be with the Lord on June 8, 2013.

Ethel, the fifth of six children, grew up in Cincinnati and attended Cincinnati Public Schools. She graduated from Woodward High School and continued her education by enrolling in Nursing School. She worked for many years as a nurse for Hoxworth Blood Bank. Ethel entered holy matrimony to Leonard Worthen on August 30, 1947. Their union was blessed with two children, Barbara and Leonard, Jr. Her son Leonard preceded her in death.

Ethel was a devoted, loving wife who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her close loved ones, and taking care of her family. she also enjoyed participating in various community organizations. She was the former president and board chairman of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, son Leonard, Jr.; three brothers, George Carter, Herman Carter and Percy Carter; two sisters, Lwelia Branty and Helen Carmichael.

She leaves to cherish her memorty her daughter Barbara White; two grandchildren, Aiasha Watley and H. Jameela white; six great-grandchildren, Symone' Thompson, Tieye'ra Cunningham, Marcylis Cunningham, Nakyla Gordon, Nashshon Bell and Mykel Bell. Ethel will also be dearly missed by a host of other relatives and friends.
