Eleanor Louise Easley Gaynor was born June 16, 1933 in Cincinnati, OH to Cassius Joe Easley and Cassie Wilson Easley. She was the oldest of two children who were both raised in the Washington Terrace area. In God's will, "Ellie" departed this life on November 30, 2022. She was 89 years old.
As a youngster, Ellie was baptized at Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church and became a member along with her family. As a youngster, she enjoyed running and as a teen she loved to jitterbug. She attended Cummins Elementary School, graduated from Withrow High School, and attended the University of Cincinnati.
To become a more well-rounded individual, Ellie moved to Washington, D.C. where she lived with her aunts and beloved cousin Carolyn. Just like many family members who worked for the government, in D.C. she worked at the Naval Department.
Upon her return to Cincinnati, Ellie resumed her studies at UC and began work at the Veterans Administration. She eventually went to work at the IRS, where she retired after 32 years of service as a Management Analyst.
In 1975, Ellie married her beloved Linwood Gaynor, who preceded her in death after 32 years of marriage. Ellie and Linwood transferred their church memberships to Allen Temple A.M.E. Church in 1989 where they both sang in the choir; in addition they both became active members of various choirs. Ellie and Linwood were avid bowlers, bowling in several leagues over the years. She enjoyed entertaining her family and many friends by hosting dinners in her home. We know she is singing and entertaining.
Ellie dearly loved her family and was very warmhearted to her many friends. She and Linwood loved to travel; taking many trips to visit relatives and friends. They also took many trips with the Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church Senior Group.
Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Linwood, sister-in-law Doris Easley and her nephew, David Easley. Her surviving family members are her son, John Roberts (Deborah), grandson Keena Roberts, 3 great grandchildren, Kaseem, Kelsea, and Kayleigh Roberts; brother, Donald Easley; nieces, Donna and Diana Easley; nephew, Dennis Smith; cousins Connie and Sharon Glenn, and many other relatives and special friends.
