Dorothea Revale Weathersby, was born December 7, 1953 to Ralph and Mary V. Hammonds in Chattanooga Tennessee. She was the fifth child of six to this union.
Dorothea had a beautiful personality. Dot as she was loving called by most, never met a stranger; she'd welcome you into her home, heart and her world. She loved many aspects of life. Music being one of them; R&B to be more specific. You could go to her home at any time and music would always be playing. She loved to dance, take pictures, travel with her family, shopping, and was a true roller skater until her health would not allow. She was a bright light to many and full of life.
Dorothea graduated from Riverside High School in Chattanooga TN and her passion was to serve others. Dot loved people. She worked as a waitress for many, many years at various establishments: Red Lobster, Bob Evans, Frisch's, Steak n-Shake, to name a few. Dottie as she was called by customers was a Bright Light to everyone she came in contact with. Most of her customers became regulars, friends and loved ones throughout the years. She had a giving heart. You could not leave her home without her giving you something.
Shortly after high school she met and married Donald Lee Jamison and to that union they had they had two sons, Donel and Damon Jamison. Dorothea accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. As a child she attended Emanuel Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN with her family. She re-dedicated her life to Christ and joined New Unity Baptist Church in Cincinnati, OH under the Pastorship of Rev. Mark Toney in 2018. She grew to love her church family and Pastor dearly.
Dorothea found the love of her life, Ervin (Earl) Weathersby after many years. They married August 6, 2005.
Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Clarence, Alfonzo, Lone!, Spencer and Rodney Hammonds.
She leaves to cherish her memory: loving husband, Earl; sons, Donell (Cara) and Damon (Kia); grandchildren, Brea, D'Andre, Kaleb, Kiana, Caleb and Zion; two great grandchildren, Brielle and Ava; a loving sister, V. Joe Barker of Cleveland, OH; brothers, Ronnie Hudgins and Leon Hudgins, sister Jackie Phillips all of Chattanooga, TN; brothers Cory, Emery, Timothy, Curtis, Darell Hammonds and a number of other siblings; dear sisters-n-law, Cheryl Hammonds and Cynthia Belther; brothers -n-law, Ronnie and Terry Weathersby along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many, mmmmannnnnyyyy loving friends.
