Claudia Allison Hurst was born on July 28, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Mary Kathryn Allison and Frank Allison. She departed this life on September 20, 2023 ... ready and eager to meet her Lord and Savior.
Claudia grew up in Cincinnati's Evanston community and attended St. Mark's Catholic School for her primary education and Marion High School, (now Purcell). In 1969 she graduated from Marion High School and continued her education at The University of Cincinnati, graduating with an associate degree in early childhood development. Claudia began her career as a pre-school teacher for several years before joining Delta Airlines as a reservationist in 1974. She retired from Delta Airlines after 31 years of service.
In 1978 Claudia and her former husband, Donald Clark became the parents of Kimya Clark. On a sunny, beautiful fall day Claudia married Floyd Hurst on Oct 4, 2003. They enjoyed nearly 20 years of true love, laughter, mutual respect and friendship.
She enjoyed swimming, dancing and cooking. Claudia was a wizard who could look up the meaning of dreams and box numbers in any formation. She was also lucky enough to appear on the lottery's Cash Explosion television program! Her Delta Airline benefits allowed her to travel the world, but St. Thomas was always her favorite destination.
In the late 1990s, she joined Greater Emmanuel Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Paul A Bowers.
Claudia, ("Sweet Pea" to her husband) was blessed with the gift of gab and a beautiful smile. She was loving, compassionate and a true friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Kathryn (nee Dukes) and Frank Allison and her brothers, Mark Allison and infant Miles Allison.
Her loving spirit will forever be cherished by her husband, Floyd Hurst; her daughter, Kimya (Richard) Sims; her siblings, Tina (Kenneth) Macon, Michael (Marie) Allison; grandchildren, Tonya Clark, Alana Sims, Richard Sims Jr.; nieces, Shana Woods and Kathryn Macon; nephews, Michael Allison and Jordan Macon; two step-daughters, Janice and Marion Hurst; sisters-in-law, Rosalee McDoogle, Mary Hurst, Anna Mae (Larry)Walter, Martha Jean Washington, Hassie Hurst, Mattie Jane, Sally Heart, Sarah Hurst; brothers-in-law, Robert, Service, Joe, John, Terry, Randy, Ben, Cleveland and Eddie Hurst. She will also be dearly missed by life-long friends Michael Connelly, Cynthia Campbell-Bell and Gayle Harden-Renfro.
