Praise the Lord for the homegoing of Bernett Schooler (nee Daniels) 87, who passed away peacefully Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Atrium Hospital. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 9, 1935, she was one of seven children of the late Howard and Kerlia Daniels of which five siblings preceded her in death, including her twin sister, Bernice Lewis.
Bernett confessed her hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized and united with Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lincoln Heights, but in later years moved her membership to Tryed Stone Missionary Baptist Church (Tryed Stone New Beginnings Church). She was an avid member of the choir and enjoyed serving her church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed her years serving her Lord and Savior.
Bernett completed her high school education at Lockland-Wayne and later attended Cosmetology School and took great pride in her profession as a licensed beautician. After graduation, she worked with other beauticians within the Lincoln Heights community who encouraged her to become an entrepreneur at an early age. In the late 60’s Bernett opened her own shop, the Sanatee Beauty Salon in Lincoln Heights. She was a wonderful beautician and loved by all her customers, who would go on to become great friends. She loved fashion and always found ways to display fashionable clothing, whether in her salon or by hosting fashion shows.
She met and fell in love with Virgil Schooler and they joined in Holy Matrimony in 1966, They later raised one son, Raphael Schooler. Virgil preceded her in death, along with her grandson Raphael Ishmael Tyrone Schooler.
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and aunt, Bernett was the heart of her home and she cherished her family and friends. Always generous of spirit, Bernett quietly bestowed her generosity and kindness on all those in need whether she personally knew them or not. She could be found raising funds and donations for anyone needing assistance. The Matthew 25 Charity was a favorite of hers. Even in the nursing home, her closet was full of donated items and food for those less fortunate. Whenever someone was in need she was committed and ready to assist.
Bernett will be dearly missed and cherished by her son, Raphael Schooler, her grand-daughter, Tynila Schooler, and great-grand daughter, Yapha Schooler, brother, Elbert Lee Daniels, nieces, Karin Daniels-Fowler (St. Louis), and Angela Barnes, nephews, Gregory Daniels (Cheryl), Ronald Lewis (Mary), Thomas Daniels (Miriam), Daryl Daniels (Yonce), David Daniels (Carmen), Mark Anthony Cox, Dear cousins, Beatrice Beamon, Beverly Jo Millsap (Gainesville, GA), Shirley Harrison (Jack) (Commerce, GA), Ruby Wilburn (Gainesville, GA), and Malbree Davenport (Gainesville, GA) and special friends, Vera Clements, Christine Shivers, Cookie Neil, and a host of relatives and close friends.
