Alma Elizabeth Joiner was born on May 15, 1935 in Wedowe, Alabama to the union of Charlie and Essie Robertson. She departed this life on January 23, 2019 into the arms of The Lord.
She grew up in Wedowe and attended school in the Wooland Alabama School District. After completing her education, she became the wife of Leroy Joiner. Alma and Leroy were blessed with five sons, all of whom were born in Wedowee. After the untimely death of her husband Leroy, Alma moved to Cincinnati, Ohio with her five sons. She went to work at Kenner Toys and later at the Keebler Cookie Factory. Alma later became a certified Home Health Aide, a career which she enjoyed for many years. She used her skills for several years with the Home Health Care, Inc.
Alma was member of the Stars of Bethlehem, No. #98 Eastern Star. Alma accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of the Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist church in 1980. She served her church on the user board She earned a reputation for her homemade pound cakes and enjoyed preparing large meals for her family.
What a cook!! She also enjoyed attending socials and senior community outings. Mom Joiner also earned a great reputation for being a seamstress. She made Church robes and dresses and served as a Hamilton County Board of Elections official.
She was a devoted donor to Boys Town, St. Jude Hospital and The American Cancer Society. Her many hobbies included Gardening and creating unique flower beds. She also had an extensive collection of figurines.
Mother Alma was preceded in death by her husband Leroy; her two sons, Ledford and Victor Joiner; her parents, Charles and Essie Robertson and her brother James Robertson. She leaves to cherish her memory her three sons, Lance Joiner, Clifford (Gail) Joiner and Stanley (Toni) Joiner; her sister, Lorine Robertson, sister-in-l;aw, Naconia Robertson; she also has two sisters and two brothers in Alabama; grandchildren, Ronnie, Reggie, Michael, Stanley Jr., Steven Arnold, Doniko Mizell Joiner; great-grandchildren, Dynasty Walker, Vaymiah Joiner, Steven Jr., Karyn, Jacri, Keayir and Kioil. She will also be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her Greater New Hope church family.
