Obituary

William "Bill" Jones was born on September 2, 1949, to the late Willie and Edith Jones (Robinson). He departed this earthly life peacefully on the morning of February 25, 2025, as the sun broke through a cloudy sky. Bill was preceded in death by beloved siblings, Richard (Dicky) Nuby, Karen Jones, and Ruthie Jones, whom he cherished deeply.

Bill's life was marked by service, love, and passion. A proud alumnus of Withrow High School, he was a starting guard for the varsity football team, and his love for the game endured as he cheered on his beloved Withrow Tigers and the Cleveland Browns throughout his years.

During the Vietnam War, Bill was drafted and served honorably as a Medic on Okinawa Island. After returning home, he began work as a Chemical Operator at Hilton Davis, later joining the Army Reserves. His military service was distinguished by annual deployments to South Korea during the holiday mail rush, a deployment to Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm, and his volunteer service with Operation Restore Hope in Mogadishu, Somalia. By the time he left the Army, he had earned a chest full of medals and proudly displayed his Sergeant stripes.

A student of history with a lifelong love for football and the music of the 60s and 70s, Bill's passions were as varied as they were deep. The Dells were among his favorite musical acts, and his fond memories of the concerts he attended became cherished stories. During his final weeks in the hospital, he delighted nurses with vibrant tales of those musical experiences, leaving them with a lasting sense of his infectious spirit.

Bill is survived by his sons, Billy Jr. and Kenneth Jones; his daughter-in-law, Angela; and his three grandchildren, Marissa, Spencer, and Evelyn, who will forever treasure his Sunday visits filled with snacks and captivating stories of his extraordinary life. He also leaves behind a host of loving relatives and devoted friends who will miss his warmth, humor, and steadfast character. William "Bill" Jones was a well-loved man whose legacy of service, passion, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. His life, filled with resilience and joy, will continue to inspire those he left behind. May he rest in power.
