Walter Mae Ware was born on June 4, 1934 to the union of Ed and Cora (Wagner) Jones in Louisville, Kentucky. She departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 to be with The Lord. Walter Mae, who moved to Cincinnati with her family as a young child, attended Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from Woodward High School in 1952. She was a long-time member of Zion Baptist Church, where she worshipped as a child. At Old Zion, Walter Mae participated in the Choral Ensemble and was a church greeter. Following her high school graduation, Walter Mae enrolled in nursing school and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She married Edward D. Ware, her childhood friend, at Ft. Campbell, Ky., where he was stationed in the service. Edward and Walter Mae were stationed in Kentucky, Panama, Ohio and California. The couple's two daughters, Danita and Danisha, were born in California before the Wares returned to Cincinnati. Walter Mae worked as a nurse in hospitals where the Wares were stationed. She retired from nursing in 1974. Walter Mae had a wonderful sense of humor and an engaging laugh. She was truly devoted to her family and adored her nieces and nephews, all of whom were equally as fond of her. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making her daughters' clothing. She also loved creating ceramics, window shopping and coloring. She loved to bake pastries, specializing in pumpkin and sweet potato pies, and finding new recipes. Walter Mae was a staunch supporter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward Ware in 1999; sisters Flora Ella Keith and Edna Lee Jones and brother, Lawrence Jones. Her loving spirit will always be cherished by her daughters, Danita Ware of Denver, Colorado and Danisha of Cincinnati; sisters, Lorraine Freeman, Josephine Wynne, Louise Watkins and Ozella Ranford and brothers, Paul Jones and Richard Jones. She will also be dearly missed by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation
