Obituary

Ruth M. Bailey, nee (McWhorter) was born February 2, 1926 to the late Wycy Mosely and Mary E. McWhorter in the state of Alabama.  In 1934, Ruth's mother met, and married James A. Baker and the family lived in Birmingham, AL until they became part of history's Great Migration.  The family settled in Cleveland, OH in search of economic opportunities which put them in close proximity to other relatives who had left southern regions.

Ruth committed to Christianity at an early age.  Moving to Cleveland found her joined in membership at Tried Stone Baptist Church.  Ruth met and married the late John Edward Bailey in Cleveland, OH.  They were avid roller skaters… who met at the Pla-Mor Roller Rink in Cleveland.

Their union resulted in the birth of three sons. John A. Bailey, affectionately known as "Junior" was the first born June 4, 1947and preceded Ruth in death November 13, 1994.  Theodore Bailey, anointed "Baby Brother" was next in line born August 24, 1948 preceded Ruth in death July 9, 2005.  Thomas I. Bailey (I guess they ran out of nicknames) was born November 3, 1949 and currently resides in Cincinnati, OH.

By 1975, our grandfather, James Baker had retired and fulfilled the dream of moving his wife and stepdaughter, Ruth back to their hometown of Birmingham, Al.  Ruth's mom passed in 1977 at which time Ruth moved to Cincinnati, OH in late 1977 or early 1978.  To say she blossomed would be an understatement.

Having moved to Cincinnati, Ruth created her own network of friends, attended churched, shopped, ran errands, etc.

She leaves to cherish her memory and those gathered before her: son, Thomas Isiah Bailey; grandchildren, Orlando Bailey (deceased), Alida M. Bailey (New Mexico), Jonathan Bailey (California), Michael T. Bailey (Ohio), Dina A. Bailey (Georgia), Nikki N. (Michael) Bailey Johnson (Ohio), Tori L. Bailey (Germain Coquet) (Arizona); great grandchildren, Chyna N. Bailey (Ohio), Liam Coquet (Arizona), Luca Coquet (Arizona) and Bailey Coquet (Arizona); great great granddaughter, Nyla N. Bailey and a host of cousins and friends.
