Roderick L. "Roddy" Bennett, born on December 10, 1968, in Petersburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He was 57 years old, and a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio for nearly 40 years.
Roddy was the beloved son of Roderick (Rod) and Edith (Edie) Bennett. Known for his warm heart and easy smile, Roddy had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, heard, and valued. His presence brought comfort, connection, and laughter to every space he entered.
A true creative spirit, Roddy's passion for music was one of the defining joys of his life. He was a talented musician who played, produced, and created music with dedication and heart. Whether he was behind an instrument, working on a new track, or sharing his latest creation with loved ones, music was his way of expressing love, emotion, and the fullness of who he was. His artistry touched many and will continue to resonate in the memories of those who heard and experienced his work.
Roddy leaves to cherish his memory his devoted Sister: Nicole Bennett Denson of Cherry Hill, NJ; his Nieces: Ashley Igbokidi and Sakari Denson; and his loving Aunts: Sylvia O'Bannon, Mina Williams and Olivia Stephens. He is also survived by his Cousins: Daniel Imes, Mimi Horton, Tammy Dale, Emanuel Bennett, Mina Bennett Gray, Robert L. Stephens, Stephanie Henderson and Christa Stephens, along with a host of Additional Cousins, Extended Family and Friends who loved him dearly. Roddy didn't have children of his own; however, he was a father to many.
Roddy's life was a testament to quiet strength, kindness, creativity, and the bonds of family. A true creative soul, Roddy's passion for music was woven into every chapter of his life. As a skilled musician, he played, produced, and created music with a deep sense of purpose and authenticity. Music was not just a hobby for him-it was a language, an outlet, and a legacy.
Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit, love, and the music he created will continue to live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.
May he rest in peace.
