Randol Gentry Davis passed away on August 26, 2026. She was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, artist, chef, writer, certified sommelier, and friend whose life reflected grace, creativity, intelligence, faith, and a deep love for family.

Randol was born on May 10, 1987, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on Mother's Day, she was the best Mother's Day gift her mother could have ever received. From the beginning, Randol brought beauty, spirit, and joy into the lives of those around her.

She had a lifelong love of history, English, and grammar, a gift she inherited from her late grandmother, Martha Jane Gentry. Randol was curious, thoughtful, sharp, and deeply expressive. She was the queen of a witty one-liner, and her smile, especially her unforgettable dimples, was a superpower all its own.

Randol threw herself fully into everything she did. As a young ballerina, she danced twice in The Nutcracker with the Cincinnati Ballet. In high school, she was a cheerleader, and in college, she continued her love of dance, performing at the Kennedy Center. She was also someone who believed in showing up for others, traveling twice to Mexico to help build and repair housing for children through Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy.

Her love of the world took her far beyond home. Randol traveled to Europe, Asia, South America, and other places that fed her curiosity, creativity, and appreciation for culture, beauty, food, history, and people.

Randol was a proud graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, where she earned Fine Arts Bachelor degrees in History and Dance. Her love of movement, artistry, and discipline shaped the way she moved through the world, both as a dancer and as a person.

Her creativity extended far beyond dance. Randol built a life around food, wine, hospitality, and storytelling. She completed intensive sommelier training at the International Culinary Center in New York and became a Level 2 Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. Her career included work in restaurants, beverage management, culinary leadership, and wine writing, including time with Food & Wine Magazine.

Randol was multifaceted in every sense of the word. She brought taste, wit, care, and creativity to the things she loved. You felt her energy in every room she was in, whether she was quietly observing, laughing with joy, or engaging in a healthy debate. She had a way of making life feel more thoughtful, more beautiful, and more alive.

To know her was to love her. To feel her joy, her passion, and her heart was a gift. She believed passionately in love, family, friendship, and marriage.

To her family, Randol was cherished. She believed in family, in faith, and in the bonds that hold people together. She was tender and strong, brilliant and complex, graceful and unforgettable. Her presence will be missed in ways words cannot fully capture.

Randol is survived by her husband, Danny Elam; her mother, Deborah Gentry Davis; her father, James Earl Davis Sr.; her brother, James Davis Gilstrap; and her brother-in-law, Joshua Gilstrap. She leaves behind a wide and devoted circle of family, both chosen and extended, along with cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who loved her as their own and who will carry her memory forward with joy.

A celebration of Randol's life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Quinn Chapel AME Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 AM. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery following the service.

Randol will be remembered for her grace, her artistry, her sharp wit, her unforgettable dimples, her love for family, her faith, and the beauty she brought into the lives of those who loved her.
