Obituary

Patricia Lynn McMullen was the beloved daughter of the late Pastor Emmett McMullen, Jr. and Carrie J. McMullen. Patricia was born on January 9, 1964, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She departed this earthly life to her eternal home on September 14, 2024, at her home.

At an early age she accepted Christ under the leadership of her Father, Pastor Emmett McMullen, Jr. at Emmanuel Baptist Church and was baptized in 1972.  After Pastor McMullen's transition in 1973, Michael E. Dantley became the Pastor.  Later years after the merge of Christ Temple and Emmanuel Baptist Church, the church's name became Christ Emmanuel Christian Fellowship.  Patricia sang in the Junior Choir, later years the Mass Choir, and she was on the Usher Board and other Youth Activities.

Patricia grew up in Avondale, until the family moved to Evanston. She attended Evanston Elementary School, Peoples Middle School and graduated from Withrow High School in 1982, where she was the Senior Class President. She also attended Wilberforce University. A lot of people probably remember Patricia worked as a Cashier at United Dairy Farmers in Evanston. After leaving there, she had a career change to an Advocate for High Functioning Mentally Challenged Adults.  This was a career that Patricia really loved, and the clients loved her and the client's families as well. She later became a supervisor in the facility, she guided and instructed others how to advocate for the clients. She also became involved in The Foster Parent Organization over 25 years ago. A relationship began with her special daughter Kathy, which years later brought on a special granddaughter, Kya and 2 special great granddaughters London and Gianna.

To know Patricia was to absolutely love her. She loved God, her family, she loved to cook, and she loved without a doubt to shop, especially for shoes. Patricia was sassy and classy and had a great sense of humor. She did not let her health issues stop her from looking her best.  The medical staff at the Dialysis Clinic always complimented her on how nice she looked.

If you hear us calling each other "Little Ugly" or "Big Ugly" and many other names, they are all terms of endearment that originated from our Beloved Patricia!  In many instances, Patricia was your church row candy lady she always had a bag of goodies especially the Swedish Fish!

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Pastor Emmett and Carrie McMullen; brother, Donny McMullen, Sr.; sisters, Janis Steele (Lional), Carol Hill and brother-in-law, Robert Likely.

Patricia leaves to cherish her memory siblings:  Deborah Likely, Ronny McMullen (Karen), Joyce McMullen, Carl McMullen, Sr. (Debra), Sharon McMullen, Sophelia Fulton (Ricardo), Paula McMullen-Davis, and Emily Jones; a brother-in-law, Tom Hill; one aunt, Rosa Griffin; two uncles, William Griffin and Charles Griffin (Linda) along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends and special friends, Linda Ellington, Stephanie Harper, Neal Franklin and Family.
