Obituary

Michael Simpson was born on March 5, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Davanna and Louis Simpson.  He departed this life on May 28, 2025 into the arms of The Lord.

He grew up in Cincinnati and attended Evanston Elementary, Sawyer Junior High School and Withrow High School.  After graduating from Withrow, he continued his education at Raymond Walters College, where he majored in liberal arts.  He left Raymond Walters to serve in the U.S. Navy.

After Michael received his honorable discharge from the navy he returned to Cincinnati.  On April 4, 1965, he married Dianna Robinson.   Their union was blessed with three children, Tesa , Michael and Steffanne Simpson.

Michael worked for Southern Railway as a technician He later joined Peterman Bus Service as a school bus driver.  He also drove charters for special needs children, which he loved.   Michael, who had a passion for fast cars, loved going to Edgewater Racetrack with his friends on most weekends. Along with his love affair for fast cars, he also had a passion for trains and Volks Wagon Beetles.  He was the owner of three vintage Volks Wagons and a 1964 Cadillac, which he drove and raced often.  His meticulous garage was his "man cave" and a favorite hangout for his many friends and family.

Michael, whose motto was "fast cars and pretty women," enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family and barbeques…all in his garage! Although Michael was "no-nonsense" he was a loving, devoted father and grandfather.  His enjoyment was bringing family together…and naturally …racing his cars!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Davanna and Louis; two brothers, Louis Jr. and Eugene "Jeanie Boy," and former wife, Dianna Simpson.

His memory will be forever cherished by his children, Tesa (Sonny) Isome, Michael Simpson Jr. (Jamie), Steffanne Simpson, Deon Simpson and Picasso Varner; 11 grandchildren, Curtis, Dianna, Corey, Ciara, Camron, Chardonnay, Chasiddy, Cherish, Devon, Dashton, Talia; 22 great-grandchildren; life-long friends, Deborah, Mike Smith, Blair and Paul; favorite niece, Lynn.  He will also be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
