Celebrating His Spirit . . .
Michael Simmons, affectionately known as "the mayor of Cumminsville, was born on June 28, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Virginia and George Simmons. He departed this life on June 13, 2022, into the arms of The Lord.
Michael, who was also known as "Goldie" to family and throughout the community, grew up and lived in Cumminsville all of his life. He attended Garfield Elementary School and Hughes High School. He loved to play baseball throughout his school years and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. As an adult, he enjoyed hanging out on Elmore. Goldie, who knew everybody, was loved by "everybody." He was funny, compassionate and watched out for everyone in Cumminsville.
He was preceded in death by his father George and his sister, Joyce Simmons.
His memory will be cherished by his three sons, Michael, Morris and Courtney Simmons; his mother, Virginia Simmons; his brothers, George Jr., Gary, Jacob, Glenn, Andre and Lawrence; sisters, Imma Hadassah , Georgia Bohanon and Sharon Jennings. He will also be missed by a host of cousins and friends. Previous Events Visitation JUN 25.
