Kelsey, Sr.

Maurice Edward Kelsey, Sr. was born on January 16, 1945, to the proud parents of George A. Kelsey Sr. & Evelyn Kelsey in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the 5th child out of eight siblings born to their union. At a young age he enjoyed spending time with his family and playing sports. When he was sixteen years old he moved to Connecticut with his dad.
Maurice was a graduate of Stamford High School class of 1965. Following his graduation, he joined the United States Navy & served for four years. While in the Navy he married Marline Smith in 1968. He was honorably discharged in 1969. Born to their union were two boys, Maurice Kelsey, Jr. & Ryan Kelsey. Maurice worked for General Electric and Stamford School System for over twenty years as a basketball & volleyball coach while enjoying mentoring young children.
Maurice was a big fan of the New York Yankees and the Cincinnati Bengals. After retiring he moved back to Cincinnati to be with family. He joined First New Shiloh Baptist Church in 1996 where he remained a member until his untimely passing. He enjoyed serving on several ministries; the Usher/Hospitality Board, singing with the Brotherhood Male Chorus, Prison Ministry, and the Athletic Ministry for the Youth Department. He was always helpful to his Pastor.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn, father, George Sr. and three siblings Mary, George Jr. and Thomas (Juice Bug).
Maurice leaves in loving memory: his two sons, Maurice, Jr. (Danielle) and Ryan Kelsey (Heidi); two granddaughters, Taylor & Ryana Kelsey; four siblings, Robert, Juanita, Lynnette and Donald (Carolyn); his significant other, Jackie Meyers of 28 years along with others family and friends that loved him.
