IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maudie C.
Hicks
November 7, 1940 – October 6, 2024
Maudie Hicks (Boykins) was born in Dothan, AL on November 7, 1940 to the late Albert and Ida (Crawford) Boykins. To this union were seven children; six siblings preceded Maudie in death: Florene, Curtis, Lorene, Ernest, Bernice and Louise. Maudie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Clifford Hicks. This union was blessed with one son, Marvin.
Maudie was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System and graduated from Taft High School in 1958. After graduation, she worked at the Guerbet Pharmaceuticals Company for sixty years. Maudie was a dedicated worker. She was honored for perfect attendance for 11 consecutive years.
At a young age, Maudie gave her life to Christ and united with New St. John Baptist Church on October 28, 1951 under the leadership of the late Pastor Robert Flowers. She wasn't just a member; she was dedicated and a perfectionist in her works. She began her musical talent by playing for the Sunday School, then later becoming the organist and director for the choir. She later became the secretary of the church which encompassed many duties, highlighting her favorite duty, the programs for "ALL" church occasions.
Maudie departed this life on October 6, 2024 at 7:48 am in her home. In God's hands, she leaves her son, Marvin Lee Hicks; her grandchildren, Jasmine, Michaiah and Jade Hicks; her great grandchildren, Alex and Sage; two dear friends, Lillie Johnson and Barbara Stenson and a host of nieces, nephews and church family.
