IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julia Evelyn
Robinson
October 5, 1932 – October 30, 2025
Julia Evelyn Robinson was born to the union of Mattie Lou (Peacock) and Samuel Adkinson, Sr. on October 5, 1932 in Unadilla, Georgia. His trumpet sounded and God called her home to rest, after nine decades of a blessed life, on October 30, 2025.
She grew up in Unadilla's Dooly County until she reached the age of 17, at which time she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to reside with her sister, Mattie Bell and her husband, Walter Randford. Julia, who never was one to accept"I can't," filled her life with the love of family, education, faith and dedication to her community.
Julia worked in health care for over 40 years, starting as a nurse's aide and eventually becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse at the age of 54. She continued her education and became a registered nurse at the age of 57. She worked as a registered psychiatric nurse until the age of 62….at which time she became an entrepreneur.
Delving into the world of rental property, Julia purchased and provided affordable housing to those who needed it. She began her Christian walk as a member of Galilee Baptist Church and later became an active member within the Clifton Seventh-Day Adventist Church, participating several days a week at the Food Bank. She was a diligent supporter of her community. Julia was always willing to cloth, feed and provide employment to those around her. She continually encouraged others to move beyond their circumstance and comfort zone, always saying, "you're never too old to learn."
Julia never met a stranger and was admired by many for her witty, great sense of humor, kindness, generosity and humble, modest spirit. Some would also remember her as "sassy." Not only was she the surviving Matriarch of her family and community-appointed "Grandma" of the neighborhood, she was a member of The West End Community Council, an active participant of The Cincinnati Police Academy, District Four's Citizens on Patrol Safety Program and held a special place within the hearts of many of the officers throughout several police districts across the city. Julia, who considered these men and women her sons and daughters, often frequented their holiday events each year. Julia also played softball for the former University Hospital.
One of her greatest pleasures was spending time by the fireplace and on the front porch of the Avondale home she purchased 59 years ago. She loved watching children play basketball across the street; cars going up and down Vine Street and people hanging out in the park, playing music and barbequing. She also enjoyed being a neighbor of The Cincinnati Zoo, which allowed her to listen to the lions roar, elephants trumpet and peacocks ca. She always stated that, "there was never a dull moment," when she sat on her porch.
Her loving spirit and dedication to others will forever be cherished by her four children, Joyce Robinson, Deborah Robinson, Larry Robinson and Tamara Robinson-Thomas; three grandchildren, Cameron Bean, Morgan Robinson and Madisyn Robinson; two great-grandchildren, Ca'Mari Hubbard and Cai'Re-Devon Hubbard. She will also be missed by her extended family: Marsha Phillips, Alicia Gaines, Montika Gaines, Bryan Phillips, Demetrius Pleasure, Deheir Pleasure, Denim Pleasure and Dionne Blankumsee.
Acknowledgement: The family would like to send a very special thanks to our mother's doctor, Dr. Stephen Eckhart, all of her aides and especially to aides Brenda Hunter and Susan Pitonyak and Queen City Hospice. We also want you to know that all the prayers, calls, letters and visits shared with our mother were greatly appreciated.
She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America and the American Heart Association.
