Joseph Jerald Oglesby, Jr., affectionately known as Big Joe or simply Joe, was born on January 13, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Annie Oglesby, Sr. From the start, Joe carried a warmth and presence that drew people close. Wherever laughter gathered and love flowed, Big Joe was sure to be there—lifting spirits, cracking jokes, and pouring kindness into everyone around him.
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Big Joe peacefully departed this earthly life and entered into his eternal rest in God’s care. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, generosity, and joy lives on in the countless lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Annie Oglesby, Sr.; his sister, Diane Denson; his beloved daughter, Kenya Cain; and his grandson, DeMarlow McIntosh.
Joe attended Princeton City Schools and later began a long, dedicated career with the Ford Motor Company. Hardworking, faithful, and dependable, Joe took pride in everything he did.
But the true measure of Big Joe’s life was his heart. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, the food off his plate, and the last of whatever he had. No one around him ever went hungry—not on his watch. His generosity was effortless, flowing naturally from the goodness inside him.
He loved spending time with his family, visiting the casino, and enjoying his favorite pastime—Bingo nights. Joe especially cherished fishing trips with his best friend Clarence, followed by waiting eagerly for Clarence to finish barbecuing ribs—one of his favorite meals and favorite moments shared.
Above all, Joe’s greatest joy in life came from his children and grandchildren. They were his pride, his purpose, and his deepest source of happiness.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted children: Turkessa, Topeeka, Joseph, Reginald, Jovon, and Edward Cain; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his beloved Aunt Charity O’Neal; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Special places in his heart were held by Sheila, his beloved companion, along with Clarence, Freddie, and Bernitha (Peaches).
Big Joe lived a life rich with love, community, and compassion. His presence made the world brighter, and his memory will forever remain a source of comfort and strength to all who loved him.
