Obituary

Celebrating His Spirit . . . . . . . . Jerome Allen Sanders was born December 21, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Sybil Sanders Wilson (deceased). He passed away peacefully at the Daniel Drake Center on October 7, 2016. He graduated from Central High School in 1964 and joined the U.S. Navy to see the world. He traveled by ship around the globe visiting such places as the Philippines, Vietnam, Guam and Panama. He served on activity duty for five years during the Vietnam War. Once he left active duty, he served in the Naval Reserve as a Recruiter for 25 years. He was very proud of this job and bragged constantly about how many families he assisted with signing their children into the Navy. Jerome never met a stranger. Everywhere he travelled he knew someone or someone in their family. After retiring from the Naval Reserves, he went to work for Immigration at the Greater Cincinnati Airport until his final retirement. Jerome was previously married to Marsha (Brown) Sanders and became the proud father of four children, Erica, Trevor, Courtney and Alexis. He was also the proud grandfather to Ashley, Derrick Jr, Micah, Justin, Ryan, Brayden and Allen Jr. He bragged constantly about his grandkids and forced folks to look at photos on the tiny screen of his flip phone, which he absolutely refused to upgrade. The family left behind to mourn include younger siblings ,Jackie, Cheryl, Cindy, Andre and Albert; one aunt, Emma Neal; six nieces, Robyn, Nicky, Ivy, Lauren, Tish, Brittiny); six nephews , Shaka, Matt, Dorien, Albert II, Derrell, Sidney, 11 great -nieces and nephews and many, many cousins. Every single one of us can tell a story about Jerome. Jerome was an active member of St. John's Lodge and served in many roles. He was most proud of the young men he mentored and instructed in the ways of the Masonic Order. One of his favorite topics was how he tortured and threatened them during their training to become Masons. There have been many stories told with much laughter. We are sad that Jerome is gone but happy that he is at peace. Thank you God for blessings received and bestowed. Memorial Service
