IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jennifer Marie
Lomax
September 28, 1950 – June 6, 2025
Jennifer Marie Lomax, a daughter, sister, aunt, and pillar of her church and community, peacefully transitioned on June 6, 2025. Born in 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to William and Della Mae Russia, Jennifer will be remembered as a true "people person," a warm soul who loved deeply, served faithfully, and lived her life to the fullest.
She was a proud, life-long resident of the West End community, where she worked throughout her life to improve her community as well as her church. She received her early education at Saint Joseph Elementary School and graduated from Seton High School.
A woman of unwavering faith, Jennifer was a life-long and faithful member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, where her presence was felt in every corner of the congregation. She was one of the founding members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Peter Claver (KPC), a national organization established to empower Catholic women of African descent through service, charity, and faith.
Jennifer worked closely with the Junior Daughters, the youth branch of the Auxiliary, serving as a mentor and counselor. She supported and traveled with the youth to various religious, educational, and social events, including spelling bees and national conventions, leaving a lasting legacy of love and leadership among the church's younger generations.
She also volunteered with the West End Emergency Center Food Pantry, working alongside the KPC Ladies and Sister Judy, offering food, support, and compassion to neighbors in need. Throughout her life, Jennifer embraced a variety of careers that reflected her nurturing nature and strong work ethic. She worked as a security guard, nurse's aide, and in retail, eventually retiring from Kroger in 2016 after a career of dedicated service. She also found fulfillment serving her community as a poll worker for the Board of Elections, where she proudly supported the democratic process.
Family was central to Jennifer's life. She helped raise her husband's son, James Lomax Jr., and remained devoted to her husband, James Lomax, until his passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, William and Della Mae; her sister, Sarah Pruitt; her nephew, William Russia Jr.; and her niece, Wanda Cheatham.
Jennifer is survived by her loving sister, Julia O'Neal (the late Robert O'Neal), and her dear nieces: Estelle Boykin Scott (Leroy), Louvina "Tiny" Russia, and Toilynn O'Neal Turner (Treigg). She also leaves a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, church family, and friends, all of whom were touched by her joyful spirit, boundless generosity, and unwavering love.
Jennifer's loving spirit will be remembered as a sincere person who lived her life to the fullest and touched others with true love and sincerity. Her life was a testament to the values she held dear: faith, family, and service. Her light will continue to shine in all who were blessed to know her.
