Celebrating Her Spirit
Janie Mae Wilson, 95, was born in the home of her grandparents, Henry and Rilla Ballentine Kiaser, on November 26, 1921 to the union of Mary Jane Kiaser and Herbert Jefferson Wilson in Pulaski, Tennessee.
She grew up in Pulaski, where she attended Pulaski Elementary Schools. She graduated from Bridgeforth High School. Janie professed Christ at an early age and was baptized and joined a Baptist church in Pulaski.
Janie continued her education at Tennessee State University, where she earned a BS degree. She taught school in Giles County Tennessee for three years and lived in Nashville, TN. for a while. She moved to Cincinnati in 1951 and continued her education at The University of Cincinnati. Janie worked as a substitute teacher for the Cincinnati Public School System for many years. She also worked for Foster Grandparents for 10 years.
She joined Bethel Baptist Church under the late Rev. Harry Brown. Janie served Bethel as an active member of the 20th Century Club. She relocated and joined Peace Baptist Church under Rev. Motley. Janie returned her membership to Bethel Baptist Church several years ago to worship under the leadership of Rev. Wayne R. Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Mary; her grandparents, Henry an Rilla Kiaser; cousins, Thomas Wilson Hawkins Sr. of Louisville, KY and Berniece Hawkins Jenkins of Pulaski, TN.
Janie will be dearly missed by close friends Maria Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. William and Lula Monroe, Dorothy Moore and members of the Bethel Baptist Church visitation team.
