HENRY NIH ASAH (PAPA DOUALA) **
The late Henry Nih Asah, also known as Papa Douala, was born in the early 1940s to Late Pa Zacharia Nih and Late Mami Dorothy Nim in Mundum 1 Ntabum Quarter, Bafut Subdivision, Mezam Division. He was the only son among four children and grew up with three loving sisters with step siblings.
Papa Douala began his education in Mundum 1, where he completed his Primary School and earned his First School Leaving Certificate. He later continued his studies in Technical school, Mbengwi, obtaining his CAP.
During his time in secondary school, he was well known for his remarkable talent in soccer. He was one of the eleven outstanding players who won the Foncha Cup for Basel Mission School, Mbengwi in a historic match against Catholic Mission School Ntambeng Mankon. The Dr Foncha Cup was newly created for the W. Cameroon in respect of Dr Foncha, the VP of Cameroon and PM of W.Cameroon. In 1965,— a victory that remained a proud moment throughout his life.
After completing his education, Henry moved to Mutengene where he met her beautiful wife and they got married. While in mutengene…he worked at the Police College as a contractor. His dedication and hard work later took him to Yaoundé, where he got a job with Satom Cameroon.
Due to health challenges, he relocated to Bamenda, where he continued to work and contribute to his community. While there, he founded the well-known traditional remedy originally called “200 Disease Cure,” now popularly known as African Panacea.
He was also a committed businessman, traveling to Douala to purchase goods and selling them in towns such as Wum, Benakuma, and the border area known as Akok. His entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic earned him great respect….and that was where he got the name papa Douala.
Henry was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Loveline Asah (Mama Douala) of blessed memory. Their union was blessed with eight children — five boys and three girls. One son of blessed memory.
Papa Douala leaves behind 7 children, 17 grandchildren, and an extended family who will forever cherish his memory.
Papa Douala was a lively, joyful, and sociable man. He loved to dance, always dressed neatly, and carried himself with confidence. His warm presence, sense of humor, and gentle spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Papa Douala lived a full and impactful life. His legacy of hard work, compassion, and love will continue to shine through his children and generations to come.
