A lady of remarkable energy and boundless commitment was born on September 16, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James P. and Edna Mae Pharris. The sixth of ten children, she transitioned peacefully out of this life to be with the Lord on July 18, 2026, in Dallas, GA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Calvin Cecil Elliott, affectionately known as Mike; her nine siblings and two of her children: Jason and Madison Elliott. Through her journey of 98 years, she touched many lives with her wisdom, wit, determination and unwavering spirit. She committed her life to Christ at an early age at Calvary Methodist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio and, at her death, was a long and faithful member of West Fork Baptist Church in Georgetown, Ohio. Helen graduated high school in Batavia, Ohio and pursued varied and interesting paths of employment over the years. These included working for Merrill Lynch, The Hamilton County Welfare Department, being among the first minority flight attendants at Eastern Airlines, a licensed real estate agent, an assistant on a daily Cincinnati TV show called "the Kitchen Show", hosted by Norma Antenuccc, and a special needs teacher for many years retiring from the Brown County Board of Education. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and continued her studies until she obtained her master's degree in elementary education. Her special love was teaching children special needs, which she did for many years. Additionally, she was a foster parent for many years to numerous children. She also served as a volunteer for Georgetown Life Squad and in her younger years performed other community service projects through her affiliation in the Order of the Eastern Star. Helen loved farming, gardening, and horses. She enjoyed watching her horses from her kitchen window and had a passion for plants and flowers, which was evidenced by the beautiful foliage and blooms in and around her home. Obituary Cont’d She leaves to cherish her memories and perpetuate her legacy four generations of descendants; a Daughter: Karen (Leon, Jr.) Taylor; three Sons: Stephen Elliott, Arnold Elliott, and Arlando Elliott; five Grandchildren: Michelle (Keith) Cook, Jala (Adrian) Snowden, Bethany (Dominic) Suckling, Brooke (Jack) Bernard, and Zandra (Mike) Aoko; four Great-Grandchildren, eight Great-Great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
