Gregory Alan Butler was the fourth of eight children born to the union of the late William E. Butler, Sr. and Willa Mae (Thompson) Butler on March 5, 1951. He departed this life on February 10, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Willa and one brother, Michael.

Greg accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at New Life Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of his grandfather, the late Reverend E.D. Thompson, Sr. He was an usher and sang in the choir. He served his church faithfully until his passing.

Greg was a part of the first class of athletes inducted into the North College Hill Hall of Fame where he was a three-sport star in football, basketball and baseball and was a co-captain of those teams in his senior year. He later coached varsity football, girls' basketball, reserve basketball and was an assistant coach of the boys' varsity basketball at North College Hill.

In March of 1986, Greg was united in Holy Matrimony to Joan Marie Disney. Their union was blessed by the birth of their son, Brandon Alan Butler.
