Obituary

Gentry Mae Williams, affectionately known as "Bit and Mama Bit," was born on August 8, 1928, in Cincinnati, OH to the union of George Lee and Glender Vern Canada ( nee Slaughter). She died on June 22, 2022, after a prolonged illness. Bit, the nickname she received as a child because of her small stature, was raised in the Price Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati. She attended Oyler Elementary School and graduated from Woodward High School. Gentry loved the Lord, and she was baptized at an early age. She married her childhood sweetheart, Chester in 1947 and through him, she was introduced to the Laymen's Home Missionary Movement which later became Bible Standard Ministries (BSM). Gentry was an avid bible student of BSM, a non-sectarian, non-denominational Christian Bible study organization. She gained another title; 'Sister Williams' and sometimes, 'Sister Mama.' She studied her bible independently and met twice a week with local bible class participants. She also enjoyed traveling to regional Bible Standard Ministries conventions. She walked the talk of her consecration vow and built her life around making her calling and election sure. She was happiest when family events coincided with the truth of the bible. This happened frequently, as she raised all of her children to study, practice and spread the gospel starting in early childhood. Gentry grew up to become a brilliant home economist to help support the family. She had the ability to create "magic," with the humblest resources. Her children never felt like they lived in a low-income household! She was a devout and loyal wife for 52 years. She loved children and was frequently enlisted to provide childcare for family and friends. This earned her the title of "Mama Bit !"! Gentry was a thoughtful and deep-feeling woman whose life revolved around understanding God's Divine Plan of the Ages© and practicing these principles in all of life's affairs. Some of her favorite things included testimony meetings, reading devotional poetry, and singing hymns. She was a wonderful cook and made delicious entrees and treats for every family gathering. She loved to read, solve word puzzles, and tend to her plants. Gentry was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Williams; daughter, Teresa Williams Perry; parents, George Lee Canada, Glender Vern Canada; siblings, Glenda Connally (Robert) , Alice (Willie) Whitfield , Gretchen (Samuel) Sullivan , George (Marcia) Canada; grandsons, Donald (Don-don) Williams and Randy Isaiah Williams. (Paul Scholer), Chester Lee (Renea) Williams of Memphis, TN, Alice Marie Williams; cousins, Rhonnie Molden (John), Lynda Duncan, Angela Peters (Barry), Christopher Arrington (Geraldine) and Richard Arrington (Donna).
