Fletcher Al Yates was born September 20, 1953 in Lincoln Heights, OH to the late Fletcher Yates Sr. and Earlene Sherrer. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Edmon D. Godette,
He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Hospice of Cincinnati in the Christ Hospital.
Fletcher graduated from Princeton High School and attended Wilmington College where he became the all-time leading scorer in basketball from 1971 through 1975. That record still stands today after 49 years. He was also inducted to the Wilmington College Sports Hall of Fame.
After graduating college, he sought a career playing professional basketball in Europe, specifically Germany and France.
On his return to the states, he sought employment with Delta Airlines. He moved around from New York, Atlanta, and finally back to Cincinnati, where he finished his career after many faithful years of service.
Fletcher, affectionately known as "Al" by family members, was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. His memory will forever remain in our hearts.
He leaves to cherish his devoted wife, Evelyn D Yates of 37 years; stepmother, Ginny Yates; sons, Randall Bennett, Robert L. (Ashley) Alexander Sr., Sean T. Yates and Evan M. Yates; four sisters, Annette Watts, Janice D. Godette, Angela R. (Michael) Grant and Jina (Kevin) Johnson; three grandchildren, Madyx M. Alexander, Ava A. Yates and Robert L. Alexander Jr.; brother-in-law, Gregory J. Alexander along with a host of other family members and friends.
