Obituary

With hearts full of love and sorrow, we celebrate the beautiful life of Dr. Fanta Dicko McMullen, who conferred her wings on December 16, 2024, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, teacher, mentor, and spiritual leader whose impact will be felt for generations to come.

Born on April 21, 1970, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. A devoted daughter of Carol Patton and Keith Kinebrew, who preceded her in death and chosen daughter of Frank Blue Jr., Fanta carried the love and values instilled by her parents throughout her life. She shared an unbreakable bond with her siblings, Shani Blue, Tunu Kinebrew, Frank Blue III, Troy Blue, Vincent Stroud and April Forte.

Fanta was a beacon of light, grace, and compassion. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Shawn E. McMullen Sr., her partner in faith, service, and love. Together, they shared a life filled with purpose, devotion, and unwavering support for one another.

"Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies." Proverbs 31:10

She was the cherished mother of Brittany, Amber and Joseph. The proud grandmother of Adrian, Larkin, Ashton, Navy, Leila, Aiden, and Rivers, who brought her immense joy and lovingly referred to her as "Honey". And the Aunt to Shamyla, Sage and Amara whom she held close and loved dearly.

She shared a deep and special bond with her beloved siblings-in-love: Greg (Carol), Vanessa (Gene), Kim and Jongi (Martin). She was also cherished by a large and loving family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Fanta's passion for education, mathematics and service was evident in all she did. She was a proud graduate of Roger Bacon High School and earned her Bachelor of Science-Mass Communication/Media Studies, Bachelor of Science and Master in the Art of Teaching and Master of Arts in Teaching, Integrated Mathematics 7-12 from Miami University. Never one to rest on her accomplishments, she achieved her Doctor of Education (EdD)-Educational Leadership and Administration with a specialization in Multicultural Education from Northcentral University.

Her teaching career was more than a job—it was her calling. Fanta inspired students at Clark Montessori School, Sycamore Community School, and Carpe Diem School, where she fostered curiosity and confidence in her students. Many of whom were influenced to seek careers in education. Most recently, she served on the Math Team at Edmentum and as an Educational Consultant. Training school administrators for several districts in the state of Ohio for Multicultural Competence, where her innovative spirit continued to shine.

Beyond her career, Fanta's life was a testament to her faith and love for others. As the First Lady of Zion Bethel Christian Fellowship, she embodied grace, wisdom, and kindness, supporting her church family and community with an open heart. Her nurturing spirit, radiant smile, and words of encouragement uplifted everyone she encountered.

Fanta had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved. Whether sharing stories with her grandchildren, mentoring a struggling student, or simply listening with her whole heart, she left an indelible mark of love and warmth on all who knew her.

While our hearts ache from her absence, we are comforted by the enduring legacy of love, wisdom, and faith she leaves behind. Fanta's life was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will remain a guiding light in our lives.

"Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord." Matthew 25:21
