Celebrating Her Storyв?¦.
Evelyn Marie Davis, 725, was born to the union of Edna Adella Treadwell and Joseph S. Cook on February 23, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She departed this life on June 5, 2017 into the arms of The Lord.
Evelyn, affectionately known as "Cookie," to family and friends, grew up in Cincinnati and attended Cincinnati Public Schools. She was the eldest of Adella Treadwell's four daughters and the first grandchild of Willie and Gertrude Haywood.
She started her career in health service as a young woman, earning money by helping neighbors and assisting her family. She always wanted everyone around her to be happy. Cookie had a wonderful sense of humor. She was blessed with the gift of laughter and enjoyed making others laugh. She loved to cook, but more than cooking, she loved to eat. Cookie also loved her family and took on the role as "peacemaker" when things went "left." Although she didn't have children of her own, she was a nurturing Mother to many. As a result of her love and support, she was affectionately known as "Big Auntie."
Her loving, nurturing personality led her into a career in the healthcare profession. She worked in area hospitals, including Deaconess and private-duty patient care. Evelyn, throughout her career as a personal home health aide, has cared and comforted hundreds of clients . She was formerly married to Earl Davis.
Evelyn was a member of The Eastern Star. She was also a sponsor of the legendary "Sip Parties," during which she earned her alias nickname of "Black Rose." She was preceded in death by her mother Edna Adella Treadwell and sister, Gertrude Treadwell.
Her loving spirit will forever be cherished by her two sisters, Gwendolyn Treadwell of Jacksonville, Fl and Cynthia Treadwell of Cincinnati, OH; two nieces, Tiffany Mabrey Bryant and Steffany Treadwell; nephew, Steffan Treadwell Sr.; great nieces and nephews, Jamar Mabrey, Yakuba Lewis Jr., Kelly Mabrey II, Antoinette Lewis, Janea Mabrey, Keana Bryant, Steffan Treadwell Jr., Kayla Bryant, Nariyah Treadwell, Quinnaya, Kiyaela, Shi'Ann, Jasmine and Londyn; great-great nieces, Jesslyn, Sa'Mone and Kevia.
