Ernest Garrett White, affectionately known as "Ernie" by family and friends, was born December 12, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Willa Mae (Johns) and Ernest White.  He departed this life on May 6, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family, into the arms of the Lord.

Ernie grew up in the Walnut Hills neighborhood of Cincinnati, was educated in Cincinnati Public Schools, and graduated from Withrow High School.  Ernie was united in marriage for seventy-three years to Martha (Johnson) White. To this union four children were born:  Ernest Garrett White, III, Gregory Maurice White, Keith Andre White, and Rodney Cedric White.

Ernie was an active member of Union Baptist Church for several decades where he served as an Usher.  He also chaired Men's Day, and under his leadership, he facilitated the largest Men's Day fundraiser at that time.  He and Martha later joined Allen Temple AME Church where he was a Steward, member of the ExCel Club, served breakfast on Communion Sundays, and participated in several Bible study groups.

Ernie was always hard working and began working at the age of 7 to help support his family.  He began his career with Rubel Baking Company and worked there for 8 years.  Ernie retired from GE Aircraft Engines as a processor after thirty-seven years of service.  After retirement Ernie spent time daily with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed walking at Kenwood Mall in the mornings.  He and Martha traveled on several cruises with family and friends.  He was a continual student of the Bible who studied and read the Word of God daily and prayed fervently.  He was also a coin collector and shared this hobby with his grandson, Kristopher.

Ernie was kind, friendly, and cherished his family and friends; he loved helping others and would do anything asked of him.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.  Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Willa Mae and Ernest White; two sons, Ernest Garrett White, III and Rodney Cedric White; and six brothers, Louis, Robert, Paul, Jerome, Carl, and Willam.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Martha White; their sons, Gregory M. White and Keith A. (Bonita) White; sisters, Ernestine Tolliver and Margaret Leathers; grandchildren Dawn Daniel, Erica (Donte) Johnson, Kristopher (Oscar) White, Bianca White, and Rodney White; and great-grandchildren Laila Daniel, Rachel Daniel, Sonny White, Kristian White-Holmes, and Alyssa Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
