Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Watkins was born to Toppie Hardy and Russell Stouffer Miller Hardy on December 7, 1936, at General Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She went to be with her heavenly father on January 15, 2025.

She was a servant to the Lord and served faithfully all of her life, she joined Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 11. She was baptized by the late Rev, Marshall Moore, on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947.  She served as a missionary as a young adult and continued to serve as she got older.  She was also the treasurer for Toys for Tots for several years, and a valued member on the Trustee Board.  Elizabeth later joined Corinthian Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor KZ Smith when Evergreen Missionary Baptist, closed its doors.

Elizabeth graduated from Woodward High School in 1955, which was the last graduating class from Old Woodward.  She was very active in school and was in several organizations such as: Big Sisters, Delta Hi-Y, Old Woodward Honor Club, and Societas Seribarum Superiorum.

She met William Watkins and they were married on June 22, 1957.  To that union two children were born- Deidra Ann Watkins and Dwayne Todd Watkins.

Elizabeth worked most of her life, starting her career at Fechheimer Brothers in sales for six years.  She then became employed at Central Community Health Board as Secretary/ Office Manager for 21 years. Lastly, she continued her work at the Ohio Attorney General Office in Cincinnati, as a Legal Secretary for 11 years.  She retired from there in August of 2003.

After her retirement she continued to volunteer at Mercy Hospital Mt. Airy, Mercy West, and Drake Hospital for several years. Elizabeth was known to be an excellent co-worker and unforgettable friend to all who had the privilege of meeting or working with her.

During Elizabeth's life she enjoyed traveling, shopping, bowling and spending time with her family & friends.  Elizabeth was a great cook, and most will admit that her homemade rolls were delicious and melted in your mouth.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents: Toppie Hardy and Russell Stouffer Miller Hardy; sister:  Willie K. Hardy-McCloud; brothers: Thomas Hardy and Donald Hardy.

Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory her children: Deidra Ann Harris- Watkins (Angela) and Dwayne Todd Watkins (Sharon); grandchildren: Jasmine Rhodes (Lakeisha), Kariea Ewing and Jayden Watkins.

Elizabeth also leaves to cherish her memories, her blended family: sister-in-law: Judith Maiden (Robert); bonus children: Derek Watkins (Lauretta); grandchildren: Jeaneen Watkins, Martel Bell (Amanda) and Kermit Smith III and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
