Celebrating Her Spirit . . . .
Dorothy L Brown (nee Marsh) was born on March 14, 1926 in Meridian, Mississippi to the union of Charles and Grace Marsh. She departed this life on February 16, 2016, leaving a legacy of love and devotion.
Dorothy grew up in Meridian, where she attended school and was baptized at an early age. She moved with her sister and parents to Portland, Oregon when she was a teenager. She continued her education in Portland , where she graduated from high school. She later met and married Willie J. Brantley. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Delores and Janis Brantley.
In 1950, the couple separated and moved the girls to Cincinnati, Ohio to live their paternal grandparents. Dorothy later met James Edward Brown, while he was serving in the Korean War. The couple married after the war ended in 1953. They were blessed with one son, who died at birth. She was also pre ceded in death by her parents; her husband, James E. Brown; her daughter, Delores Brantley and her brother, Leroy Grant.
Dorothy's memory will be cherished by her daughter, Janis Brantley of Detroit, MI, her devoted grandchildren, Jerald Brantley of Burlington, KY and Robert Brantley of Cincinnati; sisters-in-laws, Alpha (Amos) Omega-Brown, Lola (Leroy) Grant and Josephine (Carl) Winn, all of Cincinnati. She also leaves a loving cousin, Timothy Marsh of Oklahoma City, OK; a host of nieces, nephews and life-long friends, Evelyn Griffin, Claudie Scott, Crystal Burns and Lois Brown Whaley, all of Cincinnati.
