Dolores McClure

Jul 14, 1943 — Sep 14, 2026

Dolores (Spann) McClure was born to Robert Spann and Dorothy (Salter) Spann in Evergreen, Conecuh County, Alabama. To this union were born four children: Dolores, Vaughn, Jean and Robert Gerald (Bobby).

The Family lived in the lower West End of Cincinnati on Dayton Street, Livingston and Horace Streets near Crosley Field. Dolores attended Heberle Elementary and Bloom Junior High Schools. She was baptized as a young girl at West Cincinnati St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church by Reverend Maurice McCracken.

During the late 1950s, dear friends of the Spann's Joseph and Sarah Jackson moved from the West End to Evanston and purchased a three-family home. They invited the Spann Family to come and "stay over us" on the second floor. With that move, Dolores began attending Withrow High School where she met her life-long friend, Phyllis Ramsey. Dolores and Phyllis were inseparable as friends and stayed that way until Phyllis departed this life in 2025. Also while attending Withrow, Dolores met Thomas McClure and they married in the early 1960s. To this union were born two children, Dawn Jacqueline and Dino Orlando. Dolores and Dawn lived at the Naval Air Station in Brunswick Maine while Thomas was serving in the Navy aboard the USS Forrestal. Dolores moved back to Cincinnati where Dino was born and she began working at Christ Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Dolores loved working in the hospital and caring for patients. She also attended night school and graduated with her GED from Hughes High School. She then began working at KDI Manufacturing and from there began working at General Motors on the assembly line in various capacities until they shut down the Norwood plant. She continued her employment with General Motors moving to Whiteplains, New York; Dayton, Ohio; Fort Wayne, Indiana and Shreveport, Louisiana where she retired after 30+ years.

Following retirement, Dolores returned to Cincinnati where she purchased a home in Finneytown. After a short retirement, she decided to end her boredom and began working for First Student as a Princeton School District Bus Monitor for children with special needs. Dolores loved working with First Student as she had such rich relationships with her co-workers, "The Golden Girls" and her "Special Friends" who also worked as monitors and drivers for First Student. They were inseparable!!!

Relationships were important to Dolores as she faithfully attended the General Motors Group Breakfast on the first Saturday of each month at Frisch's until her health declined. She loved being a member of the Christmas Party Planning Group. It was important to her to connect with her "Community of Friends" as they celebrated each other and the memories of being together over the many years.

Dolores never met strangers. Everyone knew Dolores. She was truly the life of the party and had a great sense of humor. She loved her Family and hanging out with them brought her great joy! She loved "The Golden Girls" and her many friends. She also loved flowers, travel, City Barbecue, Strawberry Daiquiris and peanut M&Ms. She loved colorful clothing, jewelry, shoes, and lots of bling. Pink was her favorite color. She loved listening to gospel music, watching: Divorce Court, ID TV, Judge Judy, Tribunal Justice and Judge Mathis Courtroom.

Dolores has taken her rest from this life and has reunited with her Mother Dorothy, her Father Robert, and her youngest Brother Bobby.

Dolores leaves behind a legacy of faith, family and friendships with her children: Dawn (Carl), and Dino; her grandchildren: Cameron (Courtney), Brice (Carolyn); her great-grandchildren: Zoey, Braylen, Reid, and Kahari; her siblings: Vaughn and Jean; nephews: Ricky (special friend Latoya) and Gerald Spann: her grandniece: Brittney Jackson; her special friends: "The Golden Girls": Sharon Adams, Michelle Garrett, Jerri Reese, Gloria Dukes, Tracey Kalkhoff and many more relatives and friends.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith".
