Celebrating Her Spirit . . . .
Deborah Gail Jordan, "Debbie," was born on August 15, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 3, 2017.
Debbie was the second daughter of the late Elizabeth (Wee) Jorden. She was preceded in death by her beloved older sister, Margaret Jorden Harris.
Debbie was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System, graduating from Garfield Elementary School and Hughes High School. After high school graduation, she attended Catherine Booth School of Nursing in Covington, Kentucky.
Debbie was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her only child is her daughter, Taysha, and she has two grandchildren, Micayla and Keyvon.
Debbie's life was a hallmark of service. She was full of vitality, always happy and cheerful and greeting you with smiles and laughter. She was employed by three nursing homes, all of which are no longer in service. Years later she was employed in the Facilities Department of Chiquita, Inc. until her health failed, causing her to retire on disability.
Debbie was always the consummate caregiver, providing loving care and comfort to her grandmother, mother, aunt and sisters. Debbie's compassionate heart was as big as the sky.
Debbie confessed her belief in Christ at an early age and joined the First Baptist Church of Cumminsville, where she maintained a life-long membership. She was baptized under the pastorship of the late Rev. Nick Samuels.
Debbie loved learning as much as she could about Jesus and the Holy Scriptures. She was a devoted Sunday School attendee. She also attended three other Bible studies: Salvation Army Bible Study; West College Hill Community Bible Study and Friday night family devotional and Bible Study. She was a charter member of First Baptist's Pastoral Choir and a member of the Church's Kitchen Committee. Debbie had an enormous love and was a passionate member of First Baptist's Pastor's Aide ministry. She raised funds for the Pastor Aide's by selling cold pop every Sunday after church and baking and selling sweet potato pies. Her favorite hymn was "Walk With Me Lord."
Debbie dearly loved her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved only child, Taysha; two loving grandchildren, Micayla and Keyvon; seven faithful siblings: two sisters, Karen Fairbanks and Wanda Goodwin and five brothers, Alexander, Luther, Maurice, Ronnie and Wayne Jorden ,all of Cincinnati; a devoted aunt, Martha Alice Fletcher and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
