Darryl was born on February 23, 1962, in Cincinnati, Ohio at General Hospital to parents Eddie W. Price and Louvenia Price (nee Rivers).
He spent his childhood years growing up in Silverton, Ohio. Darryl played baseball, basketball, and football as a member of Ken-Sil Athletic Association. Likewise, he enjoyed bowling and became a stellar tennis player. Later, Darryl would match ping-pong skills with coeds from around that world that he met while attending The Ohio State University. He became a stellar tennis player, working out at Flushing Meadow (the site of the U.S. Open), and winning local competitions.
A graduate of Cincinnati Public Schools, he attended Walnut Hills High School (1974-1979) and completed his last year at Woodward High School (1980).
Darryl was a U.S. Air Force honorably discharged veteran. His time in the Air Force from 1987 until 1991, was marked by dedication and excellence, earning him several honors including the Air Force Training Ribbon, AF Longevity Service Award, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Darryl received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Montclair State University. As a software engineer, Darryl was versed in programming languages, databases, operating systems, networks, and cybersecurity. He was a subject matter expert in Messaging, Identity Management, Perl development and Software Quality Assurance while employed at companies such as Bell Laboratories, Mirapoint, Computer Sciences Corporation, Sun Microsystems, and Verizon.
Darryl was a world traveler, fluent in Japanese language, and a man whose spirit touched lives across the U.S., Japan, Columbia, and Mexico. After receiving a double-lung transplant in 2016, he embraced life with gratitude through adventure, travel, and service. Darryl skydived, rafted, climbed mountains, played sports again, droned and composed accompanying music, and returned to Japan—the place he loved most. Darryl devoted himself to helping other transplant patients and raising awareness for organ donation.
Darryl was a caring and kind-hearted family man and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie W. & Louvenia Price and sister Catherine Price. He is survived by his: spouse Terri L. Lathan; siblings Maxine Price-Moore, Kenneth D. Price, and Shawn E. Price; sister-in-law Sherri L. Lathan; nieces Kristen D. Price, Dr. Lauren A. Price, Jada S. Price, Kayla Price, and Kennedy A. Price; nephew Jordan M. Jones; a host of family; and friends throughout the United States and across the world.
The family also honors the life of the 19-year-old donor whose passing and the family’s organ donation decision made Darryl’s transplant possible. Their gift extended Darryl’s life by a remarkable nine years and five months; nearly a decade Darryl filled with purpose, love, gratitude, and service.
Darryl's legacy encourages us to do the same; make every breath count, cherish the people we love, and walk through the world with compassion and curiosity.
We are heartbroken to share that Darryl Clinton Price (Kofi Mensah), 63, entered eternal rest on November 7, 2025.
