Obituary

Celebrating Her Spirit Cynthia Keith- Matthews was born on December 8, 1950 to the union of Flora Ella (Jones) and Paul Keith. She departed this life on March 1, 2017 into the arms of The Lord. Cynthia, one of 13 children, grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Cincinnati Public Schools. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age under the pastorate of the late Rev. L.V. Booth at Zion Baptist Church on Ninth Street. Cynthia started working at the young age of 15 as a babysitter for neighborhood children. Today those "children" are all adults and doing well. She graduated from Claude V. Courter Technical High School in 1970. Cynthia, who always excelled at mathematics and loved numbers, furthered her education at Cincinnati State, earning an associate degree in accounting in 1983. Cynthia married Robert Matthews Jr. on December 23, 1978 and their union was blessed with two children, Tasha R. Matthews and Robert Matthews III. In 1977 she joined General Motors as an assembly- line worker, retiring in 2008. Her retirement gave her more opportunity to spend with her two children, whom she adored, her grandchildren and to indulge her love for travel. One of her favorite recent trips was to Mexico's Riveria Maya with her nieces. Cynthia also enjoyed entertaining family and friends for cookouts-which she did often. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Flora Keith; her siblings, Krutha E. Keith, Ronald Keith, half-sisters and brothers, Amy Keith, Paulette Keith, Steven and Luther Keith. Cynthia was a true lady, a thinker and a clown. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. Her loving spirit and warm smile will forever by cherished by her children, Tasha R. Matthews of Atlanta, Ga. and Robert (Hannah) Matthews III; grandchildren, Vashawn Romello, Robert Matthews IV and Derrick Matthews; her sisters, Voncille Moore Kaiser, Juanita Keith-Green and Melvina Keith-Brown, former husband and friend, Robert Matthews Jr. Visitation
