Obituary

Corliss Arvilla Bogle was born the middle child of three girls to Allye and James Harris on October 10, 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She departed this life on October 21, 2015. Corliss is preceded in death by her mother and father, (Allye and James Harris) and her two sisters, Gloria Beatty and Helen Harrison. She attended Old Woodward High School. In 1943 she married Charles Henry Chambers, converted to Catholicism, and their union was blessed with Charles Patrick Chambers. Corliss worked as a hat-check attendant and elevator operator at The Cincinnati Club for more than 20 years. In 1965, Corliss married James L. Bogle who preceded her in death in 1973. She was stylish, sophisticated and considered one of Cincinnati в??s "beauties." Corliss belonged to a popular social club, founded in the 1940's, called the "Vivacious Ladies. " In the late 1960's Corliss was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Even though she had to stop working she still maintained a high quality of life by continuing to interact with friends and relatives. Although Corliss was wheelchair bound, she kept an upbeat and positive outlook on life, never complaining about her situation. Corliss lived independently until her MS required her to be professionally cared for in 2003. Catholic priests and brothers, visited Corliss weekly at the Hyde Park Health Center, helping her through her debilitating situation. Corliss was not always able to attend family events, but through pictures and videos she was able to share the achievements of her son and grandchildren. This was a great source of pride for her. Corliss leaves to celebrate her memory her son, Charles Patrick ( Angela) Chambers , Amberley Village, Ohio; two grandchildren, Charles Aaron (Ebony) Chambers of Dallas, Georgia and Christyn Patricia (Chris) Abaray of Storm Lake, Iowa; one step-grand daughter, Jamila Chambers of Reading, Ohio ; great grandchildren, Jackson Lawrence Abaray and Jade Lorraine Abaray of Storm Lake, Iowa; two nieces, Fatima Shakoor of Cincinnati, Ohio and Carolyn Jackson of Indianapolis, Indiana; a beloved cousin, Cheryl Meadows of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a host of other relatives and friends.
