Clarence Edward Howell was born on September 12, 1940 in Norwood, Georgia, the third child of the late Mary Elizabeth and Willie Ed Howell.

Clarence's education was limited on a small farm community in Norwood GA.  After grade school he left the farm and migrated to Atlanta Georgia for greater earning opportunities.  Clarence later left Georgia and moved his family to Cincinnati, Ohio including his mother, and six of his siblings.

The son of a devoted Christian family, Clarence was a member of New St. John Baptist Church in Cincinnati, OH.  He later moved his membership to Southern Baptist Church in Cincinnati where he served as an usher and various committees, including the Trustee Committee. He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Glendale Ohio since 2011.

Clarence married Vera A. Stalling and that union was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Carolyn and Cynthia. Clarence married again to Jurldeen Porter that union was blessed with one beautiful daughter, Angela. Clarence later married Mildred Camp and they were joined together for over 26 years. Through this union two additional children, Bruce and Redonica were added.

Clarence and Mildred shared a blended family that was filled with love and respect for each family member.  Clarence was a family man and loved to have family around him. Clarence mentored many spiritual sons and daughters throughout his lifetime. Both he and Mildred would often hold holiday events at their home, sharing love and laughter to their blended families and friends.

Clarence had a work ethic that was to be admired by all. Clarence loved to support his family and encouraged all to take responsibility and create a better life.

Clarence worked many years at Cincinnati Milling Machine as a crane operator. He decided to retire early and became a very successful business owner for more than 50 years as a shoe cobbler. Clarence opened his latest shop in Pleasant Ridge where he was welcomed into the neighborhood with open arms by all. Clarence received many accolades for his shoe repair business, including being voted Cincinnati's Best Shoe Repair for 2015, 2017, and 2019. Clarence was also inducted into the African American Chamber of Black Business Hall of Fame in 2018.

Clarence received a letter in 2011, from Former President Mr. William (Bill) Clinton for his partnership with Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio, who sponsors families from other countries.
