Obituary

Our mother, Christine Mae Williams, was born on December 20, 1931, to Reverend I.J. & Minnie Hunter Williams. She was the last child to be born. Five years prior they lost a girl to tuberculosis. God answered their prayers and another girl was born, Christine.

Our Mom departed this life on September 9, 2024, peacefully at home in bed. She was loved by many. She was known in the community as Granny, Ms. Chrisine (Chris), and Grandma.

Christine joined the church at an early age. She was a member for 80 plus years servicing on the Senior Usher Board until her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend I.J & Minnie Williams, two brothers, Edward A. Williams, Sr., John Roman Williams, one sister, Fannie Mae Williams and a son, Brian Williams, Sr.

Christine leaves to mourn: two daughters, Mary M. Butler & Lena J. Williams; four grandchildren, Terress M. Williams, Corey Brown (Amber), Brian Williams, Jr., and Eugene D. Butler, III; one niece LaTonda Wilkerson Smith and a bonus nephew, Calvin Phelps (Shelia), Atlanta, Georgia. She also leaves 10 great-grandchildren; cousins, Jerry & Dianne Wimbush & Family of Raleigh, North Carolina, Howard Nunn of Atlanta, Georgia, Laureece Johnson of Crofton, Maryland, Veronica Nesbitt of Plano, Texas, Vickie & Dale Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio, Margie Wynn of Cincinnati, Ohio and Billie & Marcella Cottrell of  Cincinnati, Ohio;  special friends,  Helen Boyd, Bonnie Meridy, Lillian Griffin, Reverend Terry & Yvonne Saturday & Family of Atlanta, Georgia, Curtis & Myra Gonzales of New Orleans, Louisiana, Jane Sebastian, Elizabeth Wilson, Gloria Dennis, Gloria Smith, Connie Jackson, Patricia Benning, Mt. Zion Usher Board & Bus Ministry, Glendale Police Department and many others.  Along with her neighbors, Marcus Hurt, Teri Matheson, Sandy Haught, Ken & Betsy Carter, Carlos Reid, Claybourne Reid, Eric Duskin, Victoria Bright, Denise Martin, Flint Bickerstaff and Mitchell & Sydknee Hardy.
