Charlie Wiley was born on March 11th, 1943 in Montgomery, Alabama to Mattie Mae and John Henry Wiley. He departed this life on February 11, 2025 in the comfort of his home, amidst the love of his family.
Charlie moved to Cincinnati with his family at the age of six. He grew up with his four siblings and attended Cincinnati Public Schools, graduating from Robert A. Taft High School in 1961. Following graduation he went to work as a janitor. He provided janitorial service for numerous employers throughout Ohio and Kentucky until he retired.
His favorite pastime was spending time at home in front of the television, watching old "black and white" cowboy and Kung Fu "Bruce Lee" movies. Charlie also loved to visit Findlay Market to people watch and play music. It wasn't long before he earned the nickname of "music man."
Charlie's outgoing nature also earned him countless friends. He was a faithful member of River of Life Church for nearly 15 years, until failing health kept him home. Prior to losing his legs to diabetes, he attended church every Sunday. And he continued to attend River of Life whenever he could with the help of church members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jay Palance and daughter Dorothea Sneed; two brothers, William and George Wiley and a sister, Doris Lewis.
Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Charlotte Hurry, two brothers, Nick and John Wiley; special friend, Linda Whitehead; best friend, "Slick" Rick and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
