Charles Franklin Young, Sr. was born on February 16, 1948, in San Francisco, California to Marion Young, Sr. and Maereather Jones Young, he was the second born of five children. Charles was born prematurely and weighed two pounds at birth. His mother said he was so small he could be held in one hand. After Charles was released from the hospital and his father was discharged from the United States Army, the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they attended St. Joseph United Methodist Church.

Charles received his educational foundation in Jacksonville, Florida where he attended Northwestern High School. Following graduation, he attended Edward Waters College where he majored in Business.

In 1970, he married Delores Ann Hargrove. Their union was later blessed with three children: Patrice, Charles, and Chawndra.  Later in 1970, Charles joined the United States Air Force where he served for nine years and obtained the rank of Sergeant. He was deployed to multiple airlift squadrons of the United States Airforce (formerly known as Military Airlift Command (MAC) stations), Charleston, SC; Dover, DE; Okinawa, Japan; and Guam where he worked in the passenger terminal as an Air Transportation Supervisor responsible for processing military personnel and their families for overseas deployment. His code name was "Charlie Yankee."  After his discharge from the Air Force in 1979, he returned to Jacksonville, Florida, where he was employed as Branch Manager for a local financial services institute. In 1986, he moved his family to Cincinnati, Ohio for an opportunity with d.e. Foxx & Associates, Inc. where he held several roles before becoming President & COO for XLC Services North Division. He was employed with d.e. Foxx & Associates, Inc. for thirty-two years until he retired in 2018.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his children, Patrice Evette Barnes (Harry), Charles Franklin Young, Jr. (Reva), and Chawndra Renee Young; three siblings, Patricia Ann Foxx (David), Ronald Calvin Young, Sr. (Barbara), and Donald Alvin Young, Sr. (Audrey); four grandchildren, Aaron "AJ" Christopher Blake Williams, Kendall Kerrington Young, Harrison Ryan Barnes, and Madison Reagan Barnes; and one great-granddaughter, Aaralyn Renee Williams. Charles also has a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will forever hold his memories dear.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Maereather (Jones) Young and Marion Young, Sr. and his brother, Marion Young, Jr.
