Brett Lasalle Gentry was born on March 21, 1963 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Ida Snow and James Douglas Gentry. Brett was the sixth born of seven children. Father, brother, and friend Brett left the world loved on March 10, 2023.

As a child Brett was known to be athletic, intelligent, and hard working. Brett started working at the age of ten delivering newspapers and building bikes for neighborhood children. In his early years, he attended the Church of the Advent in Walnut Hills.

Brett graduated from Aiken High School in 1981. Brett then went on to study Manufacturing Engineering at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. While in college, Brett continued his passion in sports by walking on to play football for the Miami University football team.

Brett was employee by Rumpke for nearly two decades, he then advanced to HMI Company as a commercial driver. Brett went on to retire from the Kroger Company as a Butcher. In his spare time, Brett loved to cook and host gatherings for family and friends. He also played softball for many years where he was given the nickname Strawberry.

Brett was a loving father of his two sons, Brett Gentry (BJ) and Brandon Gentry. He was a social butterfly and life of the party wherever he went. Brett touched the lives of many people with his wit and charm. No matter the situation, Brett always had a smile on his face that was contagious to everyone around him.

Brett leaves to cherish the memory: his sons, Brett Gentry (BJ) and Brandon Gentry; his siblings, James Jr., John Terry, Stephen (deceased), Sharman, Jerome, William (deceased), Mark (Carrie), and Hugh (Thelma). He will also be missed by a host of family members and friends he touched throughout his journey.
