Obituary

Celebrating Her Spirit. . . Beatrice Lewis Cottrell, a cherished daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, quietly and peacefully departed her earthly life on Saturday, December 5, 2015, surrounded by the love of her family. Beatrice, a quiet woman of few words and strong conviction, was born in Cincinnati, OH to the union of Lee and Petronia Lewis. She was the oldest of the Lewis five children. She attended Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from the old Woodward High School. Beatrice embraced Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She truly loved and served the Lord throughout her life. She faithfully attended and dutifully served The New Friendship Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was a valuable member of the Friendship Club, for which she served as secretary. Beatrice also served New Friendship's Missionary Board with joy. New Friendship Baptist Church was a place of joy for Beatrice throughout her life. It is where she attended church with her family; met her life-long friend Juanita "Nita" Longmireв?¦ and her future husband, Robert Cottrell Jr. Juanita became more than Beatrice's best friend when she married Robert's brother, Wallace Cottrell, making the two friends sister-in-laws. God blessed the union of Beatrice and Robert with four children, AlVan, Stanley, Don Edward and Robin Elaine Cottrell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Petronia; her two sons, AlVan and Stanley and her sister, Ella Mae Lewis Harkness. Beatrice will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 67 years, Robert Cottrell Jr.; her children, Don Edward Cottrell, Robin Elaine Cottrell Glenn and special son-in-law, Jeffery Glenn; daughter-in-law, Joyce Knight Cottrell; three grandchildren, Rodney Robinson, Shannon Denise Nixson, Stanley Nixson ; two great -granddaughters, Malindi and Summer Robinson. Her loving spirit will also be cherished by her brothers; Robert Lee (Nancy) Lewis of Los Angeles, CA, Walter Lewis of Vallejo, CA; sister, Luvenia Barnes of Cincinnati, OH; sister-in-laws, Juanita Longmire Cottrell, Fannie Cottrell Shaw and Laura Huddleston.
