Anna Cornelia Montgomery

January 20, 1934 — January 16, 2026

Ms. Anna, just four days shy of her 92nd birthday, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on February 16, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 20, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to loving parents James (Jack) Fultz and Helen V. Fultz.

Legacy of Love and Strength

She was affectionately called Anna, Baby Ann, mom, mama, grandma, GiGi, and Ms. Ana. She was a woman of great strength and tenacity, consistently showing resilience as both a mother and an individual. Her unwavering dedication and example of a strong work ethic and nurturing parent left a lasting impact on her children and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Ms. Ana was well known for her deep love and steadfast devotion to her faith, her family, and her friends. Baptized as a young child, she discovered both her faith and compassion early in life, and her relationship with the Lord provided guidance throughout her years. She cared for her aging and ailing mother for many years until her mother's passing, embodying selflessness and love.

Ms. Ana treasured her eight children and often expressed how proud she was of each of them. During her childhood, Ms. Ana enjoyed spending summers traveling between Cincinnati and Danville, Virginia, the birthplace and home of her parents. She cherished these trips, where she created fond memories with her grandparents, especially Grandpa Jim, as well as cousins and siblings.

She found great joy in reading and discussing the Bible, teaching, watching movies and her favorite television shows, dancing (she loved to dance), thrifting, writing, learning about her Native American Cherokee heritage and collecting Native American artifacts, and hosting holiday dinners where her family would come together to share in each other's company. Ms. Ana also enjoyed occasional outings to play bingo and visit the casino.

Ms. Ana attended Cincinnati public schools and graduated from Woodward High School. She furthered her education by taking courses at the University of Cincinnati and completed computer courses, ultimately becoming a computer engineer. Her professional career included several years of government service, as well as working as a computer programmer for multiple companies in the Cincinnati Metropolitan area. Ms. Ana was eventually employed as a stacker at Procter and Gamble (P&G), stacking heavy boxes that were taller than her own 5-foot frame. Determined to advance, she applied for and secured a programmer's position with P&G, later being promoted to a supervisory position overseeing programing and data processing. Ms. Ana was known for her impeccable attendance, never missing a day or arriving late, even during one of Cincinnati's worst winter storms.

Dedication to Duty and Compassionate Leadership

Because her responsibilities as a supervisor included managing payroll, she ensured that employees received their checks on time. During this particularly dangerous winter storm, Ms. Ana was compelled to brave the hazardous conditions to fulfill this duty. She made it to work when nearly no one else did, determined to ensure employees received their paychecks. She understood, both as a supervisor and as a mother of eight children herself, how crucial it was for employees to receive their paychecks on time.

Afterward, when recounting the experience, Ms. Ana humorously remarked that her motivation was not only her responsibility to her team but also her own need to support her large family. Her empathy for her coworkers and her dedication to her responsibilities shone through in every story she shared about her work.

In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Ana fostered children, provided classroom instruction for women preparing for their GED, taught computer literacy courses and managed a night spot call Ms. Ana's for several years.

Ms. Ana is survived by her Eight Children: Michael Fultz; Nona Lee, Helena Phillips, Clarence Montgomery, Clifford Montgomery, Fannie Dickenson, Jeffery Montgomery, and Pamela Montgomery; Fifteen Grandchildren: Helena Fultz, Timothy Allen, Racquel Holt, Tikora Scott, Darnell Burkes, Amber McClain, Antonio Broadnax, Clarence Dickenson, Shalonda Fernandez, Shanna Cheatham, Star Malone, Celia Knott, Gary Johnson, Jalen Montgomery, Brittany Montgomery and Brianna Montgomery and 22 Great-Grandchildren.
