Albert Jesse Spell Jr. was the second child born to Albert J. Spell Sr. and Martha Elkcorn Spell in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 22, 1953.

At the age of eight, Al joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served on the Youth Usher Board and sang in the Youth Choir. While attending St. Simon's Elementary School, he also assisted as an acolyte.

Al graduated from Aiken Senior High School and Ohio University, where he studied business. He proceeded to manage properties his father acquired.

Al was a sports enthusiast who played football, basketball, and baseball, often bearing the scars to prove it. He also enjoyed hosting friends to watch the games. Al was very personable and enjoyed making people laugh. He easily made friends that have existed for a lifetime.

Al loved cooking as much as he loved eating delicious food. He had a knack for enhancing the taste of any restaurant dish. He prepared gourmet entrees as well as desserts like Italian crème and German chocolate cakes.

Life was important to Al. He decided to give the gift of life to others.  The Network for Hope, through collaboration and innovation, formed a team of physicians to enhance the future of organ, tissue, skin, bone and eye donations.  Al is living in others!

Al was a well-rounded individual who was devoted to his faith, enjoyed life, cherished his relationships, and ultimately left a lasting impact through his selfless decision.

He was predeceased by his father, Albert Spell Sr.

Mourning his passing are his mother, Martha Spell; sister, Deborah Spell; nephew, Alan Spell; and grandniece, Kenzie Spell. Numerous other family members and friends also grieve his passing.
