Stella Louise Hampton
"Loving Mama, Grandmother and Grandma Stella"
May 13, 1931 - October 1, 2020
Stella Louise was born in Limestone County, Alabama to Viola Coleman. She departed this life on October 1, 2020, leaving a spirit and legacy that live on in the souls of her family, friends and everyone she touched.
She grew up on her grandparent's farm and helped to work the land. After her grandfather's death, the family relocated to Giles County, Tennessee. In 1952, the family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio seeking a better life.
Stella married Milton Paris in 1953. During that time she attended night school to study short hand and typing through a G.I. Bill that covered the costs of her education. In 1957, the couple divorced.
In 1961, Stella married Howard Hampton and to this union was born Linda and Annie. She loved the Lord and instilled this same love and passion within her girls.
Stella held a variety of jobs throughout her career. She worked at the Methodist home, which is now known as Twin Towers; Shillitos Department stores, where she sewed lace on wedding gowns; the Acme Glass Company and in the later part of her career, she provided domestic services for the Lepschultz family and Hodapp Funeral home.
Her hobbies included sewing, embroidering, crocheting and gardening. She worked hard and taught her girls the value of hard work and stretching their dollars.
In her later years, she developed a love for creating jewelry and designing uniquely crafted Mod Podge® lamps. Through her love of creating crafts and attending workshops with her daughters, her daughters helped her to establish a unique line of products called "Mama's Hands" that were auctioned on Facebook.
Stella was preceded in death by her mother, Viola Dismukes; sisters, Nena Mae Ball and Octavia Virginia Gullion and grandson, Allen Lee Sellers, Jr.
