Celebrating Her Story
Ollie Ann Glisson was born on October 4, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Mary Henrietta (Moxley) and Herbert Glisson. Ollie, who was a dedicated nurse, daughter and loving aunt, departed this life on April 10, 2022 into the arms of The Lord.
She grew up the in a loving household, the second of four children. Ollie attended Holy Trinity School and celebrated her Catholic faith throughout her life. She graduated from Central High School, where she was trained for the field of nursing. Upon her graduation from Central State, she joined Good Samaritan Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for Good Samaritan Hospital for 35 years until retirement. Although she was offered several management opportunities during her career, Ollie always declined the offers to allow ample time to take care of her aging grandmothers and other family members.
Ollie loved reading several types of books such as science fiction, fantasy, and mystery novels. She also thoroughly enjoyed the vast selection of viewing choices on cable television and public broadcasting service channels and enjoyed watching science fiction, fantasy, mystery, history and almost anything educational. Her ability to talk and provide information about almost anything was utterly astounding to those who would engage her in conversation. She enjoyed traveling and socializing with family and friends when she was younger. In her later years, she relished her private time. Anyone who encountered Ollie knew her as kind, genuine, generous, supportive and loving. No matter how she felt, she greeted others in a positive, jovial mannerв?¦ and a smile on her face.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Herbert Glisson; her siblings, Mary Y. Glisson-McCullars, Brenda D. Glisson-Cunningham and Michael L. Glisson.
Ollie leaves to celebrate her memory her nephews, Howard Duncan, Jeffrey D. Glisson, Thomas W. Cunningham; great-nephews, Christopher (Sonya) O'Bannon, Tyrese R. Hunter, Marcell J. Cunningham, Mykel W. Cunningham; great-great nephew, Kayson Cunningham; nieces, Alicia R. Cunningham (Kendall Gault); great-nieces, Brandi C. Bryson, Ty-ran S. Cunningham; great-great niece, December J. O'Bannon; best friends, Donna O'Bannon and Helen Collins. She will also be dearly missed by a host of family and friends and the countless patients she cared for.
John 11:25-26
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and beliveth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"
